Detailed Description

The day begins with a stretch class prior to 50 minutes of fitness and a two-hour technique class. After a lunch break there will be classes in pointe, variations, and repertory, including excerpts and variations from Balanchine ballets. Most classes will have an accompanist. Also in the afternoon, modern, jazz, pilates, and lectures based on George Balanchine, New York City Ballet, and Jillana's experiences with Mr. Balanchine.

The studios are equipped with sprung wood floors and barres, and are within walking distance of the condos. The huge studio windows provide light and breath taking views of the ski slopes.

All participants will be housed in spacious condos that are decorated in the Southwestern style. Most have full or mini kitchens, fireplaces, televisions and telephones. The complexes also have Jacuzzis and laundry facilities.

Taos Ski Valley is a small village located 15 miles north of Taos, New Mexico, nestled in the picturesque Sangre De Cristo Mountain range. The village was founded by Ernie Blake and is very popular with avid skiers in the winter.

In the summer it hosts the world famous Chamber Music School. Taos Ski Valley has several restaurants, specialty shops, a convenience store, and a post office. In the summer of 1998 it became the first home for the Jillana School.
